A non-profit volunteer driven organization, which works to support health and human services in a midsize Kentucky city. The organization has a small staff and is governed by a Board of Directors.
The organization engaged Leadership Strategies Group to perform a needs-assessment for the counties they serve. There was a requirement to assess the gaps between the social and welfare needs of the population and the services currently being provided by the organization’s service providers and professionals.
Leadership Strategies Group worked with an oversight committee from each county to determine the methodology and study design for each assessment. LSG, with the help of each oversight committee, developed the survey tool and the database, put the data into the database, and analyzed the data. LSG facilitated focus groups for each of the targeted need areas using volunteer participants from the list of service providers and professionals. Focus group volunteers were requested to fill out a survey to help identify the perceived concerns, problems, and service gaps for that particular county.
LSG issued a final report for each county, which identified the perceived and prioritized needs, the significant gaps in service to the residents of the county and any overlapping services. The final report also compared perception with demographic and other data and assessed consequences related to potential decreases in services.
